Ralph & Leo host a debate on the latest zoning amendment request by Champlain Oil in Ludlow to allow for fast food drive-through windows. Guests are Peter Girouard and Phil Dunwoody.

Fast Food Drive-Through

I just watched Peter Giroaurd and Phil Dunwoody's discussion on the pro's and con's of the zoning amendment issue. One of Peter's main aruguments in favor of the amendment is to say that it represents growth and Ludlow needs growth. I would argue that there's a distinction between "growth" and "progress" in a community, and "growing" for the sake of adding more businesses doesn't mean it's progress. There has to be some checks and balances on the nature of growth, otherwise developers who aren't residents (such as Champlain Oil) will destroy what charm this community still preserves. Does Ludlow--which already has four gas stations and three jiffy marts in the Village, need more of the same? That's not growth, Mr. Giroaurd,it's foolhardiness.

Gas Stations

FYI...There are no Jiffy Marts currently in Ludlow. The one in discussion has been closed. The other gas stations are owned by other companies.

Are you forgetting that one

Are you forgetting that one of the Jiffy Marts will be permanetly closed and relocated?
